Last post in Togo

Well here it is, my last day in Togo. The end of 4 months in the most manic, noisy, exuberant country. I am sure that I will find many more countries like this (especially in Africa) but this experience will not be forgotten.
I only have time for a short blog so I thought I would end with something a little humorous. One of the most bizarre things that I have encountered out here are the signs. Mostly they are hand painted and contain the most mesmerising array of pictures, diagrams and words. Many times they have caused me to chuckle. But everything pales into insignificance against the national (and probably across most of the African continent) obsession with President Obama. Whilst his popularity in the West is up for debate, Africans remain totally devoted.

He has several beaches named after him...

...some bars...

...even a few roads!

I am returning back to the UK today for four months of work and catching up with friends and family. I will be back in Leeds for most of this time. I feel like God has lead me to say yes to coming back and rejoining the ship next year in Sierra Leone (from February to November). It has been an incredible, crazy and emotional experience. If it were up to me I would probably choose not to come back. But I know God is doing an amazing work in me, changing me and refining me in ways which I would never have thought possible. I look forward to catching up with so many of you back home, thank you all so much for your love and support over the past 4 months it has meant so much to me.
